We have just been advised that the crews have started harvesting the block next to the Waikato River Trails, but are not going to be falling trees next to the trail until next year.
The trail is OPEN and the forestry crews are just asking that trail users please stick to the trail for an added bit of security to keep you safe. Trail users will be able to hear the operations but safety wise they will be away from the hazardous area.

We will be reopening the Waipapa section fully from ๐๐ฅ๐๐๐๐ฌ, ๐ญ๐ฏ๐๐ต ๐ข๐๐ง๐ข๐๐๐ฅ. All detour signage will be removed that afternoon.
Please be aware the trail in this area will still be soft, but we have been through to ensure the trail is clear and rideable. In the next few weeks we will be through with a small digger tidying up this area further.

We managed to remove all the dangerous wilding pines in one day, so the Karapiro Section is fully open with no delays ๐
However, please be aware that the trail surface around the viewing frame area is soft until it is compacted down.

The Waipapa section (between Waipapa Dam and the Maraetai Dam Access Road) will remain ๐๐๐ข๐ฆ๐๐ due to harvesting activities.
The harvesting itself is almost complete, we do however require a sustained period of fine weather to complete harvesting and to reinstate the Trail to a safe, rideable standard.
We will keep you informed of progress over the coming few weeks.
Thank you for your patience.
