So the team has been busy this morning - we had a report of a big tree down in the Waipapa section which they have now sorted out.

We are pleased to have recently completed the installation of markers every kilometre along the off road sections of the Waikato River Trail.
The markers along each section of Trail result from feedback from a number of Trail users. We expect these markers to help if anyone has a mechanical issue or accident on the trail requiring assistance and for the many kind people who report things like trees down along the Trail.

We have been through and inspected the trail today and are pleased to let you all know that we are able to reopen the Waipapa section fully from Saturday the 10th February.

As from the 8th January 2024 the Waipapa section (between Waipapa Dam and the Maraetai Dam Access Road) will be ๐๐๐ข๐ฆ๐๐ due to harvesting activities.
We anticipate that this closure will be in effect until mid February. There will be an on road detour in place during this time. We will keep you informed of progress over the coming few weeks.

Tuis on the Waikato River Trails - one of natures many soundtracks!
Over the last decade thanks to funding by Tooku awa koiora - Waikato River Authority there has been over 170,000 trees planted alongside the Waikato River Trails by hundreds of amazing volunteers.
One of these plants - the Coprosma is of special culinary interest to the Tuis - and we love hearing and seeing them along the trail.

We appreciate the work by the Department of Corrections Tokoroa working on the Trail to assist with our extensive native tree planting project.
This community service managing the weed species competing with the native trees makes a big difference.

In the new Atiamuri section, we have created a little information hub with funding from Transpower NZ Community Care Fund.
While you rest in this area, placed information panels provide you an opportunity to further learn about the Atiamuri dam and the construction process along with trail development.

Unfortunately a car was broken into at the Pokaiwhenua carpark on Horahora Road yesterday.
This is not a common occurrence, but please donโt leave valuables visible in your vehicle, we hope this will minimise temptation.
